Therapy options

Laptop, tablet, phone are ways to connect for telehealth sessions

Telehealth

Therapy sessions by telehealth (video or phone) has many benefits. I've found that telehealth has provided individuals and families with increased flexibility in scheduling, no commute time and increased consistency with sessions. You're able to attend video or phone sessions from a comfortable location of your choice anywhere within Oregon and California

WALK AND TALK SESSIONS

I can provide in-person sessions in the Bend, Oregon area, weather permitting.  This is a session taking place outdoors, in a local park or trail.  Walk and talk therapy can be helpful for those people who find it hard to sit still for extended periods.  Some people also find it easier, and less intimidating, to open up and talk about difficult or uncomfortable things when they’re moving . Slowing down and practicing mindfulness while in nature can also help in quieting an overly active mind.  Including my therapy dog can also help reduce anxiety (as well as add comedy relief at times).

The Daring Way™ approach

I pull from many theories and approaches in my work with clients, such as CBT,  DBT, Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, and Attachment Theory. One approach is The Daring Way™  which is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. It can help you live according to your values, build resilience to shame, show curiosity toward your emotions, examine the stories you tell yourself, and help you begin to live a more "wholehearted" life. Some topics that are explored include vulnerability, courage, shame, empathy, and worthiness. The activities in this approach invite you to examine what thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are being triggered by living with ADHD or with a family member that has ADHD. We will develop shame resilience skills and daily practices that transform the way you live.

Brené Brown's TED talk on the Power of Vulnerability is one of the top five most-viewed TED talks in the world, with over 50 million views.
